Position Description:

This position will be a part of a team responsible for providing technical configuration guidance to help secure IT resources for DoD. This position is directly supporting our Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) customer, working directly with vendors on behalf of DISA. The candidate will co-author official Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) documents for a vast number of mainframe technologies and coordinate with peers to author and publish scripts to help automate STIG configurations onto mainframe products.

The STIG development process involves research and analysis in lab environments as well as having a product and infrastructure knowledge. The STIG developer may also be responsible for answering questions from the field concerning the technical details of the requirements for mainframe technologies, as well as questions regarding alternative methods to meet the intent of the requirements. This may involve risk assessment analysis and providing recommendations to maintain a secure environment without jeopardizing the operational functionality of the technology. A willingness to get hands-on for a variety of mainframe products will enable the candidate to be successful. While the candidate will assume the lead for mainframe security automation content and work independently, the candidate will have support from peers, a technical lead, a team lead, the PM, and our immediate government customer - a true team environment.

Skills (Desired and/or Required):

Experience writing scripts within 2 or more products: CA ACF2, CA TSS, IBM RACF, IBM z/OS, IBM z/VM, SLES for System z
Experience using UNIX/Linux and mainframe products in a secure enterprise environment
Knowledge of secure scripting in multiple operating system environments
Ability to communicate and translate security requirements into and from system services, configuration files, system file parameters, and DoD policy
Ability to manage workloads for different projects and deliver on a set schedule
Sound interpersonal, communication, presentation, and writing skills
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
Ability and willingness to maintain content that was developed by a peer
Comfortable communicating with our customers' customers through email and phone


Preferred: Some college with a major in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Additional Required Certifications:

DoD 8570.01-M IAT II certification or better

Preferred Certifications:

Security+ CE, or CISSP
