Position Description:

This position will be a part of a team responsible for providing technical configuration guidance to help secure IT resources for DoD. This position is directly supporting our Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) customer, working directly with vendors on behalf of DISA. The candidate will co-author official Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) documents for a vast number of technologies. The Microsoft subject matter expert (SME) develops and maintains content in a unique way; a majority of the content is community-driven through consensus working groups (i.e. DoD Components and NSS stakeholders).

The STIG development process involves research and analysis in lab environments as well as having a product and infrastructure knowledge. The STIG developer may also be responsible for answering questions from the field concerning the technical details of the requirements for Microsoft technologies, as well as questions regarding alternative methods to meet the intent of the requirements. This may involve risk assessment analysis and providing recommendations to maintain a secure environment without jeopardizing the operational functionality of the technology. A willingness to get hands-on for a variety of Microsoft products will enable the candidate to be successful. While the candidate will assume the lead for Microsoft content and work independently, the candidate will have support from peers, a technical lead, a team lead, the PM, and our immediate government customer - a true team environment.

 

Skills (Desired and/or Required):

Required:
Experience with 2 or more Microsoft products: MS Windows 7, MS Windows 10, MS Windows Server 2012, MS Windows Server 2016, MS Windows Server 2019, Server Core, Server Nano
Experience using Microsoft products in a secure enterprise environement
Knowledge of multi-factor authentication (MFA) in multiple operating system environments
Ability to communicate and translate security requirements into and from system services, registry settings, system file parameters, and group policy objects (GPO)
Ability to manage workloads for different projects and deliver on a set schedule
Sound interpersonal, communication, presentation, and writing skills
Able and willing to brief leadership using MS PowerPoint
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
Ability and willingness to maintain content that was developed by a peer
Comfortable communicating with our customers' customers through email and phone

Education:

Preferred: Some college with a major in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

 

Additional Required Certifications:

DoD 8570.01-M IAT II certification or better

Preferred Certifications:

Security+ CE, or CISSP

Clearance Requirement:
Department of Defense Interim Secret
